dragonfly April 9 2013 007

Dragonflies are interresting creatures, they are beautiful and move with speed & grace. They have six legs (like any other insect), but most of them cannot walk well (yes, you would win if you raced one on land). Dragonflies are among the fastest flying insects in the world (opt out of that race unless you can sprout wings or own a jet pack).
One day I found this dragonfly waiting for me on my kitchen windowsill, placed there by my thoughtful husband. It takes some deeper understanding of your partner to know how to safely present them with a thing deemed shriek-worthy in more civilized circles. Unusual objets de affection are the norm around here. I never have to wait around for an occasion that will prompt a flower purchase. Any random trip to the garage can result in gifts of inspiration from my love (while a trip to the kitchen yeilds gifts of bacon – also inspiring). It could be tools (wahooo) or an antique bottle, usually something that either requires tedious scrubbing or extreemly delicate handling. Like a pair of gossamer wings.
